Who: 11-18 year-olds interested in the performing arts.

Program Coordinator: Kelly Komlen
Kelly received her BFA in Acting from Wayne State University and also studied acting at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. Kelly has worked professionally at Meadow Brook Theatre, Jewish Ensemble Theatre, Detroit Repertory Theatre, Performance Network, Breathe Art Theatre Project and Waterworks Theatre Company. She has taught theatre to young artists in many communities in the Detroit Metropolitan area as well as choreographed children's theatre. She is a member of the Actors Equity Association and has been acting and stage managing professionally for ten years. She is excited to be a part of the Mosaic family.

Teaching-Artist: Sandy Birch
Sandra Birch has been a professional actress for 26 years both in the United States and Canada. She has been the voice and movement teacher for Jeff Daniels at the Purple Rose Theatre Co. since 1998. Through the Purple Rose she has taught both professional and student actors of all ages at Albion college, The University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Roberto Clemente High School, The Big Sisters of America, and for five years as a guest artist with the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. She has won three "Detroit Free Press Best Acting Award" and the 2008 "Wilde" award for Best Actress in a comedy.

Mosaic First Stage at the “Osborn” Arts Studio (The Center)

Who: 10-14 year-olds interested in beginning acting classes
What: Free First Stage acting program
Where: Program meets at The Center, located at 13560 E. McNichols, Detroit, 48205
When: First Stage in the Osborn Arts Studio meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm

Program Coordinator: Audrey Reed Drake Audrey is a proud Michigan State Alumnae, where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Theatre. In 2008, she studied theatre in London, England. Besides being an actor- Audrey has dedicated her love for theatre by directing, set design, light design, and costuming. She has worked on projects such as Prison Creative Arts with the Bellamy Correctional Facility in Ionia, MI. Audrey is interested in the development of Young Artist through theatre and hopes to expose them to other careers in Theatre Arts.

Teaching-Artist: Inga Wilson:
Inga R Wilson was born in Minnesota and received a BFA in Performance from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa as well as studying at the National Theatre Institute in Connecticut and the Chautauqua Theatre Conservatory in New York. Inga has worked professionally in theatre in the Detroit area with Abreact Playhouse, Jewish Ensemble Theatre, Meadowbrook Theatre, Performance Network, Planet Ant Theatre, Purple Rose Theatre Company, and Zeitgeist Performance Space. She has also performed in New York with Gallery Players, Imua!, Mabou Mines, and Metropolitan Playhouse. On camera Inga has appeared in many commercials and short films, as well as the features Supersucker and Paradise. She has taught theatre to young artists with Purple Rose Theatre, Young People’s Theatre and Waterwork’s KidsAct! programs. Inga is also received this year’s Wilde Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic Role- congratulations Inga!

Teatro Mosaico a Mosaic First Stage Program

Who: 10-14 year-olds who speak Spanish and English.
What: Free Bi-lingual First Stage acting program with a focus on Latino Arts and Culture.
Where: Program meets at Center of Music and Performing Arts Southwest (COMPAS), located at 8701 W. Vernor, Detroit 48209 (corner of W. Vernor and Lawndale)
When: Teatro Mosaico meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm

• Winter & spring session runs January 12th – May 20th

Program Coordinator: Tamara Serrano
Tamara was born inNew York City andreceived her BA from Colgate University and her MA in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. In thelast six years she has been employed by Colgate University and Oberlin College where she functioned as an advocate for social justice disguised as a Student Affairs administrator. Self-identified as Puertorriqueña, Latina, bi-lingual and bi-cultural Tamara lives and breathes Latino/a studies, Ethnic studies and multicultural arts and literatures. After working as a Youth Prevention Specialist in Toledo, Ohio Tamara now joins Mosaic as the bilingual program coordinator for Teatro Mosaico.

Teaching-Artist: Leah Duncan:
Leah grew up in the theatre, backstage as a "stage sister" and on. She performed in three Lathrup Youth Theater summer productions as a young actor and three Michigan Opera Theater productions as a Children's Chorus member in I Pagliacci and Turandot and as a Children's Extra in Martha. At Mercy High School, Leah was a member of the MercyAires and took the lead character role of "Bonnie" in her senior year musical, Anything Goes. Fluent in Spanish, she has worked for Mosaic as Community Liaison for Teatro Mosaico and will now shift to Teaching-Artist for our bilingual group.
