College Tour

Putting young artists on the path to higher education each year, one of Mosaic's most celebrated endeavors is its annual College Tour sponsored by Compuware. This 10-day tour finds the Mosaic Youth Ensemble traveling by bus throughout the United States to a number of prominent colleges and universities. The exciting exposure on this tour sponsored by Compuware coupled with Mosaic’s demanding curriculum yields great successes for the young artists educationally. We proudly report that 95% of Mosaic youth ensemble artists go to college upon graduating from high school.

As part of College Tour, the Singers, Actors and Technicians offer performances at such schools as Spelman University; Nashville Center for the Performing Arts; The First Church of Martin Luther King, Jr.; Mississippi's Tougaloo College t(he first college built on an actual plantation), The Julliard School and TaDa Theatre Company. One of the College Tour's greatest advantages is that it presents an ideal opportunity for ensemble members to audition and receive college scholarships to the various schools visited. Mosaic alums have received thousands of dollars in college scholarships from such prestigious institutions as Cornell, Howard, NYU, Julliard, Oberlin, Morehouse, Berkley School of Music, University of Michigan, Boston Conservatory and Miami University, which has established a special scholarship specifically for Mosaic alums.

An exciting and educational excursion, College Tour also offers the young artists a glimpse of Mosaic alumni in a college setting. This is always an inspiring experience, illustrating how very attainable and wonderful the college experience can be for Mosaic's ensemble members.
