Deborah M. Pfliegel is currently the Chief Operating Officer at the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, an internationally acclaimed youth development and performing arts non-profit. She joined Mosaic in 2010 as the internal leader of the organization. She is responsible for strategy planning, business operations, marketing and development and programs. Prior to assuming her staff position, Deborah served as a member of the Mosaic board of directors.

Deborah joined Mosaic after a successful career as an executive at Delphi, GM, and GMAC. She was Vice President at GMAC Insurance where she had executive leadership responsibility for administrative staff functions including corporate compliance, industry and government affairs, human resources and training, planning, quality, and crisis management. With a reputation for innovative problem solving, she established an internal consulting team to improve business practices throughout the US and UK operations. Deborah is credited with leading the planning and execution of Dealer TIPS (Total Insurance Products and Services), an innovative insurance agency model for selling products to auto dealers. She and her team developed a nationally recognized brand and grew the business to $200M in insurance premium.

Prior to joining the GM family, Deborah was a leader in job training in the state of Ohio, participating on the leadership team in building career training centers; she was among a select group of leaders appointed to develop and deliver training for newly appointed career training administrators. She was a board member for disbursement of federal job training funds in Montgomery County where she also served on the career training advisory committee for Wright State University.

Deborah has been a long-time community volunteer. She is currently ArtServe Michigan’s Treasurer and Vice-Chair for Finance and Administration. She serves on the board of DESC (Detroit Executive Service Corps) and on the Public Policy Committee for SE Michigan for the Michigan Non-Profit Association. She is a graduate of both Leadership Detroit and Leadership Dayton.

Deborah holds a BS in Business and Education and an M Ed. in Curriculum and Supervision. She earned a certificate in Advanced Management from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and certification from University Associates in Organization Development.
